It is a 24.5 cm by 19.5 cm oil painting on canvas. It can be found in the Vincent van Gogh Foundation's Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. The picture plane is divided by a red line. Van Gogh signed this tiny painting of a sprig of flowering almonds using the same colour. The first plants to bloom in the spring are almond trees. The artwork was given as a gift to Vincent's baby nephew. Theo and his wife Jo gave the child the name Vincent after their uncle when he was born on January 31, 1890.
